Too Loud
As I wrote on Google+ (in real time), my experience at the movies today was painful. This sound check was taken during the feature, not the trailers, which were even louder (sustained loudness, not variable). This was Regal Theatres “premium” sound experience. (I have no desire for a repeat experience.) I have no idea how accurate the iPhone Decibel app is or isn’t. Based on the US Department of Labor chart, however, I think it understated the sound level — the maximum sound was not less than that at a disco!
