Campus Protest
On my walk with Gina today through the quad (cherry trees are slightly past their peak), we spotted this sign (and its mate). I learned from Gina that Sodexo is everywhere.
According to The Daily, the UW contract with Sodexo USA (for Husky Stadium only) will expire in2012. Last year, Danny Glover (the actor) was arrested at a protest held at Sodexo USA headquarters. A French company, Sodexo was founded in 1966; it now operates in 80 countries. What’s interesting to me is that I can’t find any major news expose — bad GoogleFu? — but the students lay out a list of claims. Earlier this year, Sodexo lost part of its contract for feeding U.S. Marines.
